D-Day Remembrance

On the 6th June 1944 an unprecedented cooperation between international armed forces began. With over 2 million troops from over 12 countries preparing for the start of a long and costly campaign which would liberate north-west Europe from German occupation.

On the 6th of June 2019 - 75 Years since the start of ‘Operation Overlord’ students and staff paid their respects to those men and women who gave their lives during the conflict. They commemorated the 75th anniversary of the landings in Northern France by laying wreaths in honour of those who were involved. During a one minutes silence we remembered the courage and determination of those men and women who lost their lives and honoured those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War. Following the silence we listened to a prayer which was read by the American President at the time - Franklin D. Roosevelt.
